Brainwaves

There are five major brain wave frequencies in the human brain, all being used at any given time, some at greater strength and quantity than others:

  • Delta waves (below 4 hz) occur during sleep

  • Theta waves (4-7 hz) are associated with sleep, deep relaxation (like hypnotic relaxation), and visualization

  • Alpha waves (8-13 hz) occur when we are relaxed and calm

  • Beta waves (13-38 hz) occur when we are actively thinking, problem-solving, etc.

  • Gamma brain waves (39-100 hz) are involved in higher mental activity and consolidation of information

  • The Diamond in your Pocket, by Gangaji

This book has touched me deeply. The True experiences are recognized, and messages heard. The biggest reminder for this nervous system is that what's "over there" can be illuminated for what it is - a part of the play we call life!  There is so much gratitude for listening to this book at this time (late 2020)!

  • After the Ecstacy, the Laundry, by Jack Kornfield

What a great collection of consciousness expansion journeys!  I found this to be helpful in recognizing that the events so many people feel are 'wrong' are actually just part of the journey.

  • The Order of Time, by Carlo Rovelli

Do you remember Copernicus and Ptolemy from junior high or high school science? Ptolemy told us the Earth was the center of the universe and the Sun rotated around Earth. Copernicus gave us the controversial idea that the Earth rotates around the Sun. At one time we thought atoms were the smallest unit of matter, then quarks and leptons. Now String Theory and Loop Theory (and maybe others) suggest an even smaller scale. These progressions started at the gross level of our senses and as awareness became more subtle, more fundamental and smaller scale observances were made.

In this delightful, accessible book, Carlo Rovelli suggests another, more subtle, perspective on 'time' than we've become accustomed to at the level of our senses. Instead of time being universal and the same everywhere for everyone and everything, maybe it's more personal to each observer. I am finding this perspective fascinating, fun, and inspirational!

  • Seven Brief Lessons on Physics, by Carlo Rovelli

Also a delightful, accessible book by Carlo Rovelli, this book takes the reader through an easy to understand history of understanding, from a physics perspective. One of the messages I came away from the book with was that our reality comes from how we perceive our interactions, with everyone, everything, and every thought.

  • A Mind at Home with Itself: How Asking Four Questions Can Free Your Mind, by Byron Katie with Stephen Mitchell

Byron Katie gives perspective on life from the uncluttered mind, including examples of the method she used to find the truth of her thoughts, called 'The Work'.

A perspective on life from an incredibly uncluttered mind (Byron Katie's mind)

Physicists are used to the idea that subatomic particles behave according to the bizarre rules of quantum mechanics, completely different to human-scale objects. In a breakthrough experiment, Aaron O'Connell has blurred that distinction by creating an object that is visible to the unaided eye, but provably in two places at the same time. In this talk he suggests an intriguing way of thinking about the result, mentioning Consciousness.

  • "The Quantum Doctor: A Quantum Physicist Explains the Healing Power of Integral Medicine" by Amit Goswami

Dr. Goswami points out how Classical (Newtonian) Physics has been appended by Quantum Physics, but conventional healing sciences continue to cling to the more materialistic (Classical Physics) point of view.
